Remembering Tom Mickle of Florida Citrus Sports
Just a small update, because on recent days, Florida Citrus Sports Executive Director Tom Mickle passed away at the Florida Citrus Sports office, while working on the organization's daily routines involving current projects and upcoming major events like The Capital One Bowl and The 26th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade.

Mickle was 55 at the time of his passing and he was battling some form of cancer, after a surgery was performed, late January 2006. Tom Mickle was supervising the operations of the Florida Citrus Bowl stadium and also was the co-founder of the Bowl Coalition (BCS) system that is used to decide which college football teams are selected to participate in the college bowls during the Holiday season.

Our toughts and condolences goes to his family and also to the people behind the Florida Citrus Sports organization.

Tough I never met Tom Mickle, while volunteering for the Citrus Parade event, I feel proud of his hard work for the Central Florida community. The only thing I found out, was that I did decorated the floats for the Florida Citrus Sports Organization and Tom Mickle was riding those floats with pride! He sure will be missed!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 1-22-06
Now Playing: Waiting for the bandwith to lower more!
I have not made too much updates, since the end of the 25th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade. But, I'm waiting for the bandwith limits to lower a little bit. Since the last month's parade activity, the whole Citrus Parade in Orlando web site has gained more visitors. As much as 5000 visitors came on December 30th, 2005. The excessive number of visitors, almost shut down the site. I guess I will end up buying more bandwith, so that means that the site will have more space for thousands of visitors to come during the 26th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade, next December 2006.

In the upcoming weeks, there will be more additions to the Citrus Parade in Orlando web site. Also I believe that in February, the organizers of the Parade at Florida Citrus Sports, will be selecting the Marching Bands that will qualify for the 26th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade.

So, to recap, there is more to come, but I have to check on the bandwith space available, before I add more content to the site.

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 1-2-06
Pictures available and some corrections made.

I have made available a link to see all the pictures of the Annual Orlando Citrus Parade. I did provided a link to Yahoo Photos, because there are too many pictures to upload to the server, I decided to link them to the photo album I have at Yahoo.

Otherwise, the Tripod site would be shut down due to overload of the server, since they have a limit on the bandwidth I can use for the pictures. I may buy some bandwidth later, since the site broke the record for most visitors! Over 5,000 visits where recorded the week of the Parade Volunteering and the Parade event.

Usually I don't have time to read the visitors comments, but with the help of Frank, I found out that there was a picture of the Marching Bands, that I did identified as the Auburn University Marching Band, but, it was the Michigan University Marching Band, so I did corrected the mistake.

Another comment was from Paul, regarding the National Broadcast of The Orlando Citrus Parade. I really don't control the parade telecast and you have to address that to Florida Citrus Sports. I don't know if that was a bad waist of advertiser's money, but I do call it a promotional consideration. Those ads are kind of donated to Florida Citrus Sports.

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-28-05
Where done with the decorations! Let's have a PARADE!

3 days of volunteering for the Citrus Parade decorations and it is all worth of it! What a great opportunity I have of decorating for the 3rd year in a row, some of the 7 Citrus Floats that will march across Downtown Orlando this Friday.

I will be posting the pictures and some movie files that I did. So check back again.

If you live in the Orlando area, you may want to check the Float Parade. They are leaving the Convention Center early on the 29th (Means tomorrow morning!) and will go some 15 miles to Downtown Orlando and will stay for the night at the Citrus Bowl in Downtown Orlando. So, if you happen to drive by a major road in Orlando, you may see Shamu, the Sea World's Killer Whale, dress in Citrus! Will try to cover that for you!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-27-05
Check back later, because I will be posting pictures of the volunteer shifts for the parade decorations. It is so wonderful to be working as parade volunteer....

I won Disney tickets! Lucky? Perhaps!

3 more days for the 25 Annual Citrus Parade Sponsored by Delta Airlines and I can't wait to see "American Idol's" Constantine Maroulis. Will be back later!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-19-05
11 days for the Parade! But I'll say 6 days and half, since I will start the volunteer process of decorating the Citrus Floats!

There are more TV markets joining the Parade Broadcasting. I believe there is a TV promo running, but I have not yet seen it.

Maybe is running on WFTV in Orlando, but if you know where the Parade is going to be broadcast, like WABC/KABC/WWLS/FOX SPORTS and so on, and you have seen the promo for the parade, please let me know. Also I expect during the week, to travel to Downtown Orlando and see if the big Grandstands are being set up. You may have see the Grandstands in the front page. Those where from 2004, or last year. So be on the lookout for new pictures of the Grandstands during the next couple of days.

One more thing. Florida Citrus Sports is making the parade available for purchase. Actually if you can't see it on TV and would like to see Constantine Maroulis of "American Idol" performing (That I will make available soon!), then you may purchase the DVD or video tape of the parade.

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-16-05
2 weeks/14 days for the Parade! It's getting even better!

In case you noted, the front site has a picture of American Idol's top 10 finalist Constantine Maroulis. The picture reads "American Idol Constantine Maroulis has been selected as Grand Marshall." Surprise? I did expected a celebrity or a sport legend to be the Parade's Grand Marshall!

In past parades, the Grand Marshall has been a sport legend. I had Football legend Vince Dooley of the University of Georgia in 2003 and Mark Ruiz the Olympic Medalist in 2004. I also had former Miss America Erika Dunlap which is returning for this year's parade. But a big celebrity like "American Idol"? Then this is getting better!

I received confirmation about the upcoming volunteer week, after Christmas Day. I will be present, decorating the floats and will post some pictures and some movie files for you to see. That is on the following Monday (After Christmas), December 26th. I doubt there is an opening available, but if you can request one, good luck! I did requested the volunteer position early this year.

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-13-05
Counting down to Parade Day: 17 days!

At this point, I believe that the volunteers positions for the parade has been filled. I am not 100% sure, but the last I check on the Florida Citrus Sports site, the only volunteer shifts available where the 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. If those shifts are still available, you can try to fill out the volunteer application and send it back by fax. But at this point, I believe that the volunteer shifts has been filled and if you did not filled out, you have to wait till next year for the 2006 volunteer opportunities.

Another thing, have you noted that the Citrus Parade in Orlando web site is running on WEB RING? I am placing the Web Ring code at the first page (INDEX), so it will be easy to navigate from any site within your Web Ring host. Some of you have the Web Ring code, but if you only see the Web Ring logo without a name for the ring you came, then click on the link for a list of Web Rings this site is listed.
