The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-10-05
It is less than 3 weeks, or 20 days for the parade!

I will do some major updates to the site and will add some pages that where not entered before. In the meantime, The Orlando Citrus Parade organizers at Florida Citrus Sports, has revealed some details about the parade and which floats will be decorated with the citrus fruits.

As a matter of fact, I will be working in the float decorations during the week of Christmas. I have been posting that there are looking for volunteers for the parade, so I decided to join in and this is the 3rd year in a row that I have committed to the volunteer program. I really love to do it and besides, is a fun experience and I hope that some of you that will participate in it, are able to enjoy it as well.

The Florida Citrus Sports Committee that oversees the parade, has told that they will pass last year's records, for the TV clearance and broadcasting of the parade. Most of the 125 markets, are large size cities. Since it was told that WABC, KABC and now WWLS in Chicago, has cleared the event, other larger markets like Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, even Honolulu and US Virgin Islands and I believe that in Puerto Rico, the parade will go, since WABC is carried by cable and satellites providers.

Quite possible, this parade will go, not only nationwide, but also worldwide. Some countries are able to carry the US Sports Networks like FOX Sports and Comcast Sports and America One Television. I even found out that America One Television, does offer worldwide streaming (Via subscription), so I believe that this parade will go to reach more than 100 million viewers in the US alone.

Also, as the citrus floats that will be marching on December 30th, there are several entries this year. At total of 7 citrus floats will be send on parade day. As much as 50 corporations are entering floats on the parade. The major attractions like Disney, Universal and Sea World are also sponsoring floats and characters to march on parade day.

Even celebrities will be on hand too. I heard that former Miss America 2003-04, Erika Dunlap, an Orlando native, will be on one of the Parade float and may sing to the crowds, since she is now a well known singer. Other celebrities are to be announced at a later time, so stay tune!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-4-05
It is official! 26 days for the parade and we now know which teams will march on the parade. The Capital One Bowl teams where selected a few minutes ago. The teams of Auburn and Wisconsin. will meet at the January 2, 2006 bowl game to be televised on ABC TV. Of course, the marching bands for both universities, will march the streets of Downtown Orlando on December 30, 2006. Lets welcome the Auburn Tigers (The last time they where in Orlando was in 2002) and Wisconsin Badgers (First time at Capital One Bowl). Hope that you enjoy your visit to Orlando and will see you marching on parade day!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 12-3-05
With less than 27 days to march in Downtown Orlando, here we find out that Georgia is going to the Sugar Bowl, so that would means that LSU will try to get a bowl spot and may or may not be at the Citrus Bowl. Since the LSU team was already the last year's team at the Capital One Bowl, they are out of the race.

So it is a 50/50 percent chance that either Wisconsin and/or Auburn will face the bowl on January 2, 2006. However, the Florida Citrus Sports committee will decide later tomorrow (Sunday Dec 4), who will play the Champs Sports Bowl and Capital One Bowl.

To recap: One or two of the following:

Auburn (Highly possible!)
Alabama (Could catch in case Auburn is not pick!)
LSU (I don't think they would return for a second year, but that could happen!)
Wisconsin (A possible favorite!)
Ohio State (Second to none!)

Not that I am predicting the bowl outcome like CNN or ESPN is doing, but I'm giving the candidates, you do the math!

1) AUBURN

2) WISCONSIN

3) OHIO STATE

4) PENN STATE

5) GEORGIA

6) LSU (Did they played last year?)

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 11-20-05
38 days for the Parade! Do we know who will play the Capital One Bowl? Do we know if their bands will march on the Parade?

CNN-SI is already making predictions, ahead of Florida Citrus Sports organizers! The CNN-SI Web Site, is making a prediction of the College Bowls.

Still, the rankings for the BCS are to be made available, sometime after the Thanksgiving Holiday. However, CNN-SI Sports Journalist Stewart Mandel, has made his choice on who will be playing the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, on January 2, 2006. He expects that Ohio State and Auburn would make the cut. So who will march on the Citrus Parade? You need to figure that!

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 11-20-05
39 days to the Orlando Citrus Parade with Delta Airlines as main sponsor.

But, Delta has not say anything and since there is word that the airline is facing problems with their pilots and financial problems arising. I hope they can display their Citrus Float on Parade on December 30th!

I will start making some updates in the next couple of days. I even prepared a map that displays the parade route and where the TV cameras and grandstands will be located. Will update tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday.

The Citrus Parade Orlando report 10-31-05
Still 60 days more for the 25th annual Orlando Citrus Parade. More information will be available and there is a major sponsor for the parade. Delta Airlines has sign up with FCS Sports, the Orlando Citrus Parade organizers, to become sponsors of the parade.

It is quite possible to see a Citrus Float from Delta Airlines. I don't know how the parade float will look, but I have a 2003 picture of the parade that could give you a hint of how the float will looks like:
